i can never read this right, but by my estimates last month we got about
20700 unique visits on
http://www.zzz.com.ru. (estimate, because i can see we got about %69 percent unique visits information displayed on one page, so i multiplied that with the total visits information that is displayed on another page)
i had to work it out, i'm not sure if i did it right, unique visits arn't something on we generally keep track of.
thx for the reminder, i'll have to try to get some workable figures showing up on that dumb usage stats page. (we've got a couple of sperate pages on it, neither giving truly informative information at a glace, grr)
it works out to about one new unique visitor every 2 minutes. traffic has been drifting down for a few years.

Getting about seven million uniques per week to one of the sites that I created. 10 application servers. Four clustered databases. Averaging 15 megabits per second constantly. Servers barely breaking a sweat. Who's got a bigger calk.

That brings up a good question, advertising... how to increase more visitors to your site? I'm not just looking to generate visitors for the point of having visitors, I'm selling web startup packages, etc. Is television advertising, google adwords, radio the best way? Any recommendations?

It was left off on purpose. Also, the URL has been removed from my profile a while ago.
The company is attempting to generate some funds through a public offering... and, I have a large stake in the company. So, I think I won't say anything just yet.
More on the setup... The entire system uses two cabinets and all machines are rack-mounted. There's a total of about forty machines running. Including inbound/outbound email, event processing and back-up servers... a firewall, several switches and remote power management... about 15 minutes of power back-up included.
We're a few feet away from Kazaa's and Vivid's servers. heh

TV and radio are expensive and require you to know exactly what you are doing.
Adwords (and any CPC program) sucks. Advertising should be based on performance. However, you can find a few low-priced keywords and stick with that. Don't do the excessive out-bidding of others.
The best advertising is search engine placement and it's free. It takes time and you learn a lot. But, the advantages are huge. (It is advisable that you don't pay someone for this service. Too many scams or people simply don't know what they are doing.)

Like 20, and I'm pretty sure none of them find what they are looking for either.

we have found the best advertising to be manually looking around for places that would be interested, and chatting to them, and sending out announcement emails to relevant news-outlet sites (as much as i hate them, i did get a lot of referring traffic from hardocp. getting slashdotted a bunch is "fun" too... *yikes*).
if your site has good content to offer, i find the best way is just plain old human networking. approach ppl, get friendly with other websites in your field. i'm not a fan of automation when it comes to advertising.
[MS]Instig8 you have almost 39Terrabytes every month. insane!

Matrix, yes.
Roid, I'll leave the smoozing to the PR dept., but yes, that's also a good way to attract more usage. And, that is 4.86 TBytes/mo. or 38.8 Tbits/mo. (bytes vs. bits).

Remember, it's not the quantity of visitors that matters-- it's the quality.
