Don't do this at home.

Well, wife told me last night she wanted to go out and buy some butter to make some xmas coookies.
Well, 2 hours later and $3000 later we got home.
Bought a HP laptop(1499$+ 350$ extended warranty), Linksys Wireless 802.11G router with Speedboost(120$), 200$ in DVD's, Logitech Z5300 speakers($199), carry bag($79 but got 50% off since I didn't take the free printer with the laptop).
I need the laptop for school come Jan since the ones you can borrow from the school are not fully configured for flash etc and you can't take them out of the library.
I ditched the XP Home and installed XP Pro. Setup the wireless but didn't install the router. I started using someone elses wireless connect to tewst things out and it works. It has built in Wireless 802.11G which is great.
I'm a kid with a new toy again.
Thanks to my wife for being the best person in my life. I wouldn't be anyone without her.

If I need linux, I'll use VMWare and install in there. Otherwise, I'm sticking with Windows for all my other programs I need to run.
Cops, not idea what you mean. I hope it's not an insult. It's the honest truth.
Lobber, yes we did forget the butter.

So, uh, congrats about the laptop, sucks about the whole "still need butter" thing. Such a useful ingredient and all.

it was unnecessary for me to type that with such veracity. beg your pardon. i just find spousal worship to be nauseating. i'm glad that you are happy... but without her you
most certainly would be someone.

I think you were reading a bit much into it. I don't see so much spousal worship as just sincere appreciation for the kind of person she is. When you find that someone who's just right for you, looking back, life without them wouldn't be as... well, I could probably try to argue it, but we'll just have to hope you find out someday.

I don't worship my wife but I am very grateful for the things she has done for me.

That and many other toys. She's upgraded my PC last year, new sound card, video, HD's, CD burners. Paying for my college, car, insurance etc. I'm lucky to be able to concentrate on school and not have to work part time.
She has asked me when I finally get a job after school is done to be able to get her Bachlar's. I said yes without evwen giving it a second thought.

i keep forgetting that the internet is full of people who do not know you... yet know everything about you.
;-0
anyone who has had experience with a spineless man that proclaims "she saved me" or "my life would be nothing without her" can attest to the fact it is indeed nauseating.
next.

Nauseating perhaps, but something tells me wed all be damned lucky if we wind up half as happy with our future wives as merlin is with his.

I guess I forgot the
in there.
I think you're wrong, though.
I think most spineless men are passive-aggressive, and will complain about their wives every chance they get, but don't do anything about it.
I think the men that complement their wives like that are probably in a healthy relationship. They are probably in control, and are aware of the fact that they can cope without their wives. They are also (obviously) aware of the fact that their relationship with their wive has made them into alot better people, and they're very dependant on them. It's not a bad, one sided dependancy, but a wonderful mutual dependancy.

Dumbest story in the world (the fertility one, not the laptop one). A cat sitting on your lap will lower your sperm count (and not just in the AceCombat sort of way).

Just sitting with your legs together for that long of a period produces more body heat in your nether regions then the laptop would. This reminds me of the boxers/briefs thing. It's just stupid if you ask me.
Next headline will be that a study shows laptops are likely to cause testicular cancer.
