All by myself without coming here on bended knee to ask for advice.

Problem: No booty uppy when start button pushed

Hint: Indicator lights suggested bad ram

Solution: Upon pulling out both sticks of ram I visually noted build-up of dust on side of ram nearest cpu. Got a small paint brush out and cleaned the dirt of. Also brushed dirt off ram sockets. Re-inserted ram and comp. Boots up like a champ.

I'm so proud of myself. Guess all these years of hanging around here have distilled a little "geekness" into me.

I don't think so. Compressed air can blow dust right into places where it will NEVER come out.

It's HIGHLY unlikely dust caused your problem. More likely is the RAM simply wasn't seated properly. I have seen and worked on boxes so full of dust that the CPU literally was getting no air at all, and the dust bunnies were 2 inches thick. Simply wiggling items often gets them going again.
