This is just another reason not to patronize commercial spectator sport.

Boycott the NFL, NBA! Don't watch thugs on TV paid more money in one night than a heart surgeon does in year!

Iâ??m sorry, what exactly is the problem here? Itâ??s a five year deal during the course of which, no other company can use the NFL logo, players, etc in its games. I donâ??t see how this warrants a boycott of commercial spectator sports. Get a grip folks.

EA did not announce the terms of the deal, but sources told me the price tag was north of $300 million (though well below the $500 million figure some have suggested). "If they paid more than $200 million, then I seriously question their judgment," said Michael Pachter, an analyst with Wedbush Morgan Securities.
Take Two, naturally, spoke out against the announcement.

"We believe that the decisions of the [NFL] and Players Inc. to grant an exclusive license for videogames do a tremendous disservice to the consumers ... limiting their choices, curbing creativity and almost certainly leading to higher game prices," it said in a statement.

We are EA, resistence is futile. You will be assimilated.

It's like the 10 yr deal Sony has on any game F1 type. Sony and EA aren't the best at making sport games. EA has sucked at any racing games and Sony will only produce F1 games for the PS2 and none for the PC.

So yeah, I hate these kinds of deals.

Theyre fun to play, if not completely realistic.

Sucks about the NFL deal though. I foresee other national sports franchises following suit :|

I agree. EA makes a good NFL game, but it's always good to have a variety to choose from (example: a friend of mine prefers the ESPN 2Kx gameplay over the EA Madden versions).

Actually its just fine. EA has cornered the market on sports games over the last half decade. They produce the most immersive and by far the best quality "sport to game" experience available for video gamers.

Other then ESPN's latest venture into the video game arena, most of the other companies have failed to provide the action of most pro and college level sports venues for most avid sports fans.

I see no real problem with this because EA has already become the king of sports games. Besides, this just means guys like Darktalyn1 from the DBB here have some good work to do :)

EA is the biggest crock of dung out there. Try getting a patch out for their sports games. They got distribution rights for the GTR Racing from Simbin for North American release. Guess what, they release has been pushed back till Q1-05 but the game is already out in Germany where it was made. It was still slated for Nov 4th release around the world until EA got their hands on it.

Anything EA touches, goes to hell.

Ummmm what about NFS3 and 4? They aren't the most realistic games but they certainly are the most fun raceing games ever made. NFSU is fun but I got bored with it. I wan't the old sk00l NFS back where you have cars that take damage, windows that break, suspension that screws up..... I miss slaming into my apponents in order to take them down. Good ol' fashioned down and dirty arcade raceing!! You gotta love it!!

Meh, Grand Turismo 1-3 are better then the NFSU's.

All sports games suck, doing one or two in one thing, making one a year gets old. Fast. EA games has gone down the tubes, they're more interested in money and latching off successful games then they are innovating anything other then graphics. Take the Battlefields for example, BF: 1942, Vietnam and now #2's coming out, I'd bet money(if I had it) taht a BF: Vietnam 2's going to come out.

And so Grasshopper, why is it you need NFL logos and players to make a good football game?

It's pretty safe to say if ESPN is reporting it on ESPN News and their other channels the source is accurate. Your friend needs to get over it, it isn't THAT big of a deal. lol
