The internet died on my computer

I was SURFIN' DA NET yesterday on my computer then all the sudden the internet just wouldn't work. It was instant, one second pages load fine, the next, kaput. Nothing.

I'm running WinXP Home on a P4 2.4c, ABIT IS7 motherboard (using the onboard LAN jack installation). A little icon on the Taskbar says "Little or no connectivity". When I click on the icon it says speed is 100.0 Mbps(normal), but the Packets say I'm sending about 200, and receiving none.

I tried a number of things including rebooting the router, I tried installing a spare LAN card I had (thinking that it was the onboard LAN thing) but it still didn't work.

I also thought it migh t be the cord, so I unpluged the one going to my bro's computer (who's connection is fine btw) and that still didn't fix it!

For a while there the other computers had Limited or No connectivity issue, but father said he fixed it by rebooting the router, my internet still wasn't fixed.

What do you think the issue could be? And how to fix it?

The Router is a D-LinkDI-604

Thanks for any help.

Yea the network/internet works on all other computers. It's just mine that is broken. I'll try that merlin.

But I noticed something weird, when i go to shut down the PC it saiys "One or more users is connected to your computer, are you sure you want to disconnect them" etc. That is weird because my computer aint even connected to netwerk rite now

EDIT: it still aint work :\

You'll get that message if someone was connected to your PC via networking, like if you share folders between PC's.

Try this, uninstall TCP/IP, reboot and re-install it.

It sounds to me like your PC is not getting an IP from the DHCP server or there is an IP conflict. Yeah, reinstall TCP/IP and see if that fixes it. And just to be sure there is a complete reset, even the standby power to the LAN card I want you to turn off and unplug your computer for about 30 seconds when you reboot.

See if you DNS is down. Check for Mal-/Spyware.

Your TCP/IP stack could be broken. download this and see if that does the trick. Sometimes when you remove adware/malware, it'll break your TCP/IP stack on the way out. (ie: poisoning the well, so to speak)

While you're at it, post a Hijack this! log.

Yea MD, that did it. I ran Hijack This and as usual there was crap in there (VeiwPoint toolbar etc.) but then I found an entry "Broken internet because of xfire_lsp_6064.dll" or something. SO I hopped on the other computer and looked it up.

Turns out the newest version of Xfire messes up the TCP/IP thing. I found a link on the Xfire message boards to that lspfix website, put it on a floppy and it worked like a dandy :)

I guess uninstalling the TCP/IP protocol like some of you said would work, but the TCP/IP protocol doesn't have the uninstall option. It's greyed out..

Oh well, the internets have returned and I'm happy.
Thanks guys. :D
(shitty xfire programmers)

Oh yea, just in case, anything I should delete?

Spybot Search and Destroy 1.3 & SpywareBlaster(activeX only)

Oh good grief....

Adaware
Spybot Search & Destroy 1.3

Download and install both NOW.

I also noticed that you have Style XP installed. Dude, why bother running a third-party client in the background when you can just run a single cracked DLL instead? You can use any theme that way instead of being limited to whatever stylexp supports. Since the original site has gone down (linked from neowin.net), I'm mirroring it. click me Just run this, and restart windows. Then download whatever theme you want from ThemeXP.
