a score of D3 problems

i just now starting playing D3 for the first time (had a P-120 until recently) and im having a few minor problems:

-the ambiant sounds are quite fuzzy. its not terrible cause the main sounds (like me firing, the other robots, etc) and the music is fine, but subtle environment effects are crap. i tried reducing sound quality, nothing.

-the graphics, menus in particular, are messed up. i can see enough to get around the menus barely, but in the game, theres almost always these large squares beneath the crosshairs, making it hard to see robots just below them. also, when outside, rain droplets appear as squares. if theres a way to take a screenshot, let me know, i'll show you.

-i want to adjust my x-axis and y-axis sensitivity to something in between 0.6 and 0.8, but the game wont let me. i checked the registry quickly, but didnt see anything obvious to tweak.

i realize that none of these problems are fatal, and the game is still good with them, but i'd like to fix a few if i can. thanks!

my specs:
Athlon XP 1800+
Sapphire Radeon 9000 Pro 128mb (catalyst 4.11)
40 and 80 gig WD caviars
C-media onboard sound
512mb RAM

Use Direct Sound, turn of EAX if it's on.
Use OpenGL and not D3D for video.

For the stick, go into the config and click Adjust Settings at top of joystick page.

select options from your main menu

1)In the sound menu, set the sound quality to high.

2)In the general tab, turn ship sounds off.

3)In the general tab, select sensitvity to change your stick settings.
