Christmas dinner at Flabby's place.
I'm doing the usuall get together this year with a few ex-pats from the UK, SA, and one swedish, plus the usual smattering of natives. Fifteen grown ups and ten kids, even though the number usually swells when the neighbours get wind of the event.
Food will be: On the BBQ of course.
6 kilo of prime pork chops.
4 kilo of pork ribs done in a cola/honey/spicy marianade.
4 kilo of pork ribs done in a soy/tomato spicy marianade.
2 kilo of Ostrich meat.
Liver and Garlic pate (which i'm doing now)
Three types of funky salads.
Schoog, which is a very hot homemade sauce, which i'm also doing now.
New potatoes
Ooodles of garlic bread.
Spiced hot mulled wine.
Copious amounts of red and white.
Couple of crates of beer.
4 guinness just for me.
and a partridge in a pear tree.
FC....what ya'll having????

Let's see ... I haven't even thought about it yet but I should start planning no? My kids are not cullinary experts and are quite finicky so ... I'll keep it simple as follows:
* Cajun Mashed Potatoes - My own creation, recipe below
* Italian Tomato Salad - From RecipeZaar.com, Recipe below
* Smoked Ham Slices - 1/4" thick steaks roughly 8" in diameter, cooked with pineapples
* Butter beans
* Garlic bread

3 oz. block Philadelphia Cream Cheese

Italian Tomato Salad
The basil really makes this salad. Be sure to use good quality tomatoes.

4. Wash the basil leaves.
5. In a small bowl, mix vinegar, olive oil and dried oregano.
6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
7. On a large serving plate, arrange tomato slices and black olives.
8. Top with sliced cheese and sprinkle dressing over the salad.
9. Garnish with basil leaves.

Yo Roidi, you want to get one of these for your camping trips. A mate of mine from SA brought me one god bless her, and it's a faithful freind. You make your coals, chuck yer stuff in , and after a swim and a few beers you've got a great meal waiting for you. Google it for recepies. I know they sell them down under also 'cause another mate of mine got one there.roid wrote:i'll probabaly eat this weird chicken caserole thing that we made on the wock (caseolole on a wock haha, i think we kinda made a mistake!)
