I've been using mIRC pretty much forever just because that's what I started out on, and I'm wondering what else is available. What IRC clients do you guys use for Windows?

When I used IRC, I used mIRC, but Trillian also supports IRC.
Give it a shot.

are you just fed up with mirc because of its blandness or is it a deeper problem? you can just try a
wrapper that changes the look and adds alot of different scripts that do various things. my irc client barely resembles mirc at all.
if its something else thats the problem, i don't know, sorry.

I just use Chatzilla (Firefox extension).

I used to use XChat. Now I find myself using Chatzilla because it's there and I'm too lazy to get a different one.
Another good IRC program is IceChat. Though it's a bit too flashy, it has a lot of substance.

I just want to see what else is available. I never thought there was anything missing from IE untill I tried Firefox, so maybe there's something like that out there for mIRC.
That and the mIRC trial period thing is starting to piss me off.

I use Trillian and xChat, though I never get on IRC enough for it to make a big difference.

Theres also the IRC plugin for
Miranda IM. Its
OK for basic IRC purposes, but I prefer mIRC. I have no idea if its still freely available or not, but theres VIRC, BitchX, and another I can't remember the name of that I used a few years ago.

Tried Chatzilla, but it seems a little to simple. Seems like Xchat is pretty popular, so that's next up for evaluation.
Keep the sugestions coming if anyone has any.

the lastest windows version of Xchat is shareware, so note that.

Note that I wasn't particularly thrilled with XChat. It was just something to hold me over in between mIRC and the discovery of IceChat.
