So would you pay 50,000.00 for a cat? Seems a woman who's cat expired paid 50 G'ees to have fluffy reconstituted (thats cloned for those of you dysfunctional illiterates  ). Me? I'd just go to the super market bulletin board and find out who has free kittens to give away. I always was the practical sort.

Even as a cat lover I couldn't see doing that.

Seems to me she doesn't understand much about cloning. How will she react when Fluffy II isn't exactly the same as Fluffy I? :P

Kinda' made me sick, actually. Considering how many cats are put to sleep at animal shelters everyday, it's the height of arrogance and stupidity to spend $50,000 to clone a specific cat.

Personally I like to think of it as putting money in the cloning industry.

If she raises it the same it might turn out quite similar. Granted it won't be a spitting image, but it might end up being close in behavior.

Some people spend their money on sexy cars. Some people spend their money on ridculously huge computers. Some people pay $50,000 for a cat. If you have the $50,000 to pay for it, what the heck.

I love my cats dearly, but even if the money were not an object, it seems like cloning would be a poor way to deal with the grief of losing one's pet.

I also personally think that living through having the cat again, KNOWING you're just going to lose it again would just add so much extra pain. When I lose a cat, I could never live with having it again.
