Outer speakers not working in 5.1 w/SB Live! Platinum Card

I bought my kids the Creative Inspire T5400 Speaker System for the rec-room PC and got it all hooked up last night. The PC has an old SB Live! Platinum card in it and the Sound Control panel is set up for 5.1 speakers. Problem is that the outer speakers aren't working properly. I hear a faint noise+music coming from them but thats all ... no idea what is wrong. Any ideas?

Need to install Creative's software to enable to extra ports on the SB Live.
