Looks like there is some recent activity there.
Don't know if that means anything.

Outrage hasn't been around in years. They were disbanded after THQ bought them and released Alter Echo.

Believe it or not, I saw a copy of that game in a Toys 'R Us the other day. I almost felt like picking it up, but from what I heard, it was a pretty big flop.

I saw some reviews that said it was good, but apparently they didn't have any sort of advertising whatsoever. No one knew about it, and it flopped...

It sucks that history had to repeat itself twice in a row with them.

Regarding Outrage.com, it'd be very nice if someone could get the domain and put up the patches on the site so they could be downloadable via the Autoupdate. Shouldn't be too hard to do. A while ago I had looked into how they did it and found out, but that info eventually faded from my memory.
Edit:
Then I had downloaded those files.

Agreed
And this could mean we would not need PXO, as someone could make a patch (main.exe) to goto another Server. Our ver. of PXO w/ chat. If it works like that.
This may be where we need the source codes.
From PXO ?
oh no......

uh...PXO has been dead for half a year or more. People are already playing without it. Good riddance I might add.

Source code could be cool... 9+pps for Macs, slightly longer taunts, a better taunt interface... extract Fusion engine, insert HL2 engine. ;P

Hush thyself before all the Descenters with ainchent computers hear you. They most asuredly will rip thee to shreds with a Voodoo card.

Yes, I agree the source code should be let out. Would make wonders for D3.

Just look at what the FS2 community did to FS2. I doubt we could do anything that fancy, but we could make some serious improvements.

It just might create some cheating problems at first. But then, I guess those who want to do that can do it already.
So, yea, of course it would be cool. Getting it to happen is another thing.

So I am a technically challenged cracktard with a stupid question, if you can copy it or rip it, why can't you get into the source code? Wouldnt it be horrible if the game ended up on a shareware site anonomously, with all the current good links, patches and support, hell even the all the mn3 files. Who ownes the rights anyway?

Because the source code was compiled into the came we know today. There's no clean way to reverse that and turn the 1's and 0's back into the text that's the code.
It says it expires Jan 4, 2005 but it's still listed as Not Available....

A few years ago everyone's favorite ★■◆●, Redbone, was pimping out in chat the source code to Descent 3 -- specifically, the 80kb or so main.cpp file. Looked extremely genuine to me, even had the lengthy Outrage Entertainment comment block at the top.

Well, I looked at the whois, and saw it was Matt Tachlog. Then I looked at the site quick and it looked like outrage.com, so I assumed it just led to outrage.com.

Outrage.com has been renewed by THQ ending in 2006, interesting or not? I am not sure.

Sky: did it say anything about distribution of the code? Because then he just copied/pasted the comment block from a cpp in the D3-SDK.
