It seems that all of the companies now are beyond dead. Is violition still around? I havn't been following this for a while now, so who has the Descent rights?

Yeah, Volition's alive and kicking. They were bought by THQ, and right now they're working on a console game for some movie, although I can't remember which.
Edit: Mobius, how did you sneak in a post in the 10 seconds it took to make mine?

Okay, which one of you Billionaire Descent fanatics bought the Descent rights?

It's a moot point, as Parallax still holds the rights to make Descent 4, and Matt Toschlog and Mike Kulas are keeping that company around for just these sorts of legal purposes.

That would be, "The Punisher", I think. The best part of the PC version is the Descent-like launcher, from what I saw of the demo. ;p

That would be me. I hereby authorize and encourage any development team to come up a real Descent 4. I will happily turn over the rights to the Descent series to the first group that succeeds in developing such a game.

Don't forget to sue Sage for millions for copyright infringement.

Good job Iceman. You just released the rights without regaining any financial benefits. No profits.
Guess you'll just have to stay in that lower tax bracket. Tsk, tsk, tsk.

Someone post that "hello and welcome to last week" pic please.
I'm so tired of hearing about interplays long, drawn out death. And then the wild theorys that pop up about MAYBE getting the descent rights somehow and blah blah blah....ENOUGH
