Has started today w/ the kickoff event. I like the game and changes in the kit they came up w/ for this season, the next 6 weeks will be quite busy
Check the FRC out at

I'm a part of the BEST robotics competition. It's a lower-cost alternative; a thousand bucks will MORE than finance a team for the competition. It's an awesome competition; the students have to actually design and make each part of the robots themselves out of PVC, plywood, and other such low-end but workable materials.
The results aren't quite as spectacular, but it teaches you to deal with real-world problems such as insufficient materials and low-quality materials. Making a woven basket out of strips of PVC pipe can get fun.

I'm part of first. Unfortunately, I couldn't be there to see the kickoff, but I'll definitely be working hard for the next 6 weeks on our bot!
Edit: just saw the promotion video. The whole "tetra" thing's gonna be wierd. Although my brain is already working on ways to lift them.
