How old is a Compaq P500?
I have a chance to buy a Compaq P500 for $35 but I don't have any idea how old the P500 model is and can't get that info at this time.

In 1997-1998 I was working with a firm that did nothing but realtime graphics/simulation. We had state of the art PCs with high end graphics cards. My box had a 200 Mhz P2.
My guess? Mid 1999 to 2000 or so for the P500.

From memory, "Pentium" chips never exceeded 166MHz. The first chip to hit 500MHz was the Pentium 2, 500, with the Deschutz core.

Your memory is not serving well. P1 made it to 233MHz. Same mark that P2 started.

Damn my RAM is going bad! I have 2 x Pentium 233 MHz cores hanging inside frames on the wall at home. DOH! Believe I'm correct about the P2 and Deschutz though...

Dimwit, I linked it for a reason. Remember the discussions on here about bandwidth theft? And image size?
