BTW all of these cars on in the 28-35k range, so one doesn't glaringly stand out price wise.

Personally
I'd get an Evo -- but why the MR? You are playing an additional 6K for a 6 speed tranny and a LSD, and ACD. You could pick up the RS and have all that and save yourself a ton of cash.

Whatever car you pick you better make it last, BfDiDDy, because the next one you get will be a minivan.

Buncha Money Wasted - A term used to describe a metallic conglomeration of maintenance hassles. Frequently attractive to people because if its sleek look and fine handling capabilities, this item has been responsible for many instances of bankruptcy as it's maintenance bill can easily be as large as it's payment.
Missed the vote but I would have selected the RX-8

I went with the WRX. Not only is it a pretty cool car, it has incredible safety and handling capabilities. I can't speak for everything, but from what I know/what I've heard, it's by far the most practical car on that list above without compromising power or speed.

I love Rotors, and seeing as I'm on my third one right now, of course I voted RX-8. The only issue I have with the car is it's lack of power - particularly in draconian Californian emmissions version, which is down under 170KW I think. Given the 220KW of the last Batman, and the ease with which it'll make 350+KW, the latest version is barely capable of pulling the skin off a rice pudding!
I drove one recently however (Price here is $46,995 NZD) and liked it a lot.
Why isn't the 350Z in your lineup?
As to the WRX (STI) - why would you bother? The interior is pure crap - like a $9000 Hyundai, and if you're 6'+ the car is far too small. Sure they go like crazy, but it's all grip and no handling.
Plus, they're the #1 stolen car here in NZ - except for the 2004+ models which are almost unstealable!

RX-8 or the Stang. I would take the Stang over the RX-8 but hey, whatever you like!

I voted for the STi. mainly because it's so fun to drive. it handles like it's on rails. plus that awd can come in handy when needed.
I'm 6'2" and I fit in the STi just fine.
I dunno why mobius keeps opening his mouth about stuff he doesn't know about.

have you driven one besides a test drive mobi? lack of power? puh-lease, the thing is chock full o' power off the line and can run a 12 second mile or better. i've beaten many a mod'd street car w/stock parts on the sti.
Mobius wrote: Sure they go like crazy, but it's all grip and no handling.
you obviously haven't. i own one, the car can turn on anything smaller than a dime w/enough g's to make you sick to your stomach.
it's not a couple car BFD unless your woman is into speed, power and handling but i'd say go fer this one.

Yeah, this isn't going to be my car, the woman wanted a zoomer and these are the cars with the most fun factor.
I did some reading at car and driver and I think we are leaning towards the rx-8.
I have never liked american cars, and DG refuses to purchase a Ford. The 350z is a nice car but two things, 1. there are a billion of them in phoenix, 2. I'm 6-1, and its a small car for me.
Anyways, we left the decision up till tomorrow. They have a track in the back of the auto complex that they let you "test" drive the cars on.
Maybe some pics of my sexy wife in a perty car...

For real. If you're going to pay that much for a car, why not see what its really capable of?

Mazda is a Ford Motor Company brand.

Not to mention Volvo, Jaguar, Land Rover, and Aston Martin. I'm sure they own a few more but I can't be arsed to do the research.

Go for the BMW if you're buying new. Don't buy one that's between 3 and 15 years old though -- not worth the money or the maintenance.
I'm not sure I like the new models BMW makes. The E46 (the 325ix you were talking about) is ok in Touring edition, but I don't really like it as a saloon.
In fact, the only current BMW model I really like is the 6 series.
I wonder why you would want four wheel drive on a BMW? RWD and a button to disable traction control is all you need
4WD has never been BMW's strong point. They've put some effort into it with the X series, but in saloons it doesn't even compare to Audi's Quattro system, for instance.

People who drive BMWs usually have one of these characteristics:
1. I'm European, and I'd hump anything that BMW puts out.
2. I'm a yuppie with too much money and buy a car simply for the prestige of driving an expensive car.
3. I buy for the label so that I can pick up women.
Since you are none of these, go with the RX-8.

I'd go on record here and say the BMW will retain more of it's purchase price % at resale time...
