D3 Multiplayer Demo Playback Weirdness

Post by KlubMarcus »

I've got a demo while observing a multiplayer D3 game. But to get it to play properly I have to go through a couple of steps.

1) Join a server hosting the level (damage.mn3 in this case).
2) Make sure I'm the blue player (the first player after the server).
3) Go into Observer mode.
4) Leave the server while in Observer mode.
5) Go back out to the View Demo menu and it plays.

Otherwise, Descent 3 crashes when I attempt to play the demo right after starting the game in Single player. Or if it doesn't crash, I get the static view of the red player (the server). Anyone know of a better way? :? I've got the demo file if you need it.

you can switch viewed player using "P"

use this at your own risk and post in tech forum in the future.

Thanks, it does work for switching between player views. But it won't play the demo from the Blue Ship Observer's view. I still have to go through those steps to get it to play right.

The demo was a free-for-all from a bunch of [RIP] and [NUB] pilots with the observer (me) recording in the middle of the shooting. On a side note: if you set the resolution too high during playback it runs slowly, kinda like an action sequence from "The Matrix" because the framerate is low.

What? It's even possible to make demo playbacks in d3 function?
