Is there a plugin of some kind for phpBB that allows people to select individual users they'd like to ignore and it would omit them from that viewers end?

Probably not...that would be too convenient. Any ideas?

There is such a thing; I looked into it.
However, it is embedded into an enormous mod, and would take some serious coding skills and a while to extract only the code related to the Ignore feature.

Jim isn't a fan of board mods because it has the chance of limiting upgrade (read: security fixing) options.

Somehow I figured there would be some sort of standalone mod for ignoring on BBs only. hmm...

If you see their name next to a post, don't read it.

If they're causing serious problems (like one guy right now in E&C) ask the moderator to smack them down.

Yeah, I think it's safe to say that we all know whom you're referring to. :P

seriously... if there was a Republican version of Democratic Underground, I'd just send him there to get rid of him.

The EasyMOD tool for phpBB does make updating the BB software when a new version comes out easy, even if you have multiple mods installed, they release a mod that is simply all the code changes for the new version, it updates the old version to the new one on the fly with all your mods still intact. All that is left after doing that is to run the update_to_2.0.x.php file for it to update the version info in the database.

Hmm...how about a mozilla/Firefox extension designed to work with phpbb that can cause a users post to be omitted from page rendering?

lol. Yeah, virtually the same thing cept its on the browser end instead of executed by the forum. That'd be cool. :P

Top Wop, I don't have Adblock installed. That will be taken care of shortly ..

EDIT: ah...that was sooo worth it. Much better :)

i'm trying to get used to him.
i had to do it with others here years ago, either they mellowed/left/or i got used to them (can't remember which).

no doubt this "getting used to him" will involve some auto-brain-ignore function.

I tolerated reading his posts all the way up until yesterday when he felt a need to flood E&C. I mean, its great to post in topics you're interested in, even if its just to poke some fun at some friends here and maybe take the thread off topic if only for a few minutes, but sheesh.

I haven't wanted to chuck a large brick at someone's head since Rican was still here. Until now...
