Stolen Information

I just received a letter from a former employer which states that thieves have stolen computers from one of their facilities, and that these computers contained MY personal information including my name, social security number, address, telephone number, and the list goes on. Of course the thieves have not been caught.
So how's your day going? Mine's just peachy.

Might want to change the locks on your doors--and see about changing some of your personal info to protect yourself from possible identity theft immediately.

Also would be wise to place fraud alerts on your SSN, bank accounts, etc.
A quick google turned up this:

Best of luck.

Thanks, guys. I imagine this is sufficiently commonplace now that Hallmark probably sells ID theft sympathy cards. Remember folks, send those cards and letters to...well, I am sure the information will be posted somewhere on the Internet shortly.
As Bettina would so eloquently put it: GRRRRR!

I just came across a story which I can assure you has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with my letter:

Nothing to do with it. Really.
When a politician, bureaucrat or business asks for permission to have or store personal information, remember to just say "No."
