Internet Explorer is now just about the most secure browser available, says Microsoft - because so many security holes have been filled

Microsoft saying IE is the most secure browser is like me saying I have the biggest ***** of all.....doesn't exactly make for the best credibility.

Right. They've yet to include any popup blocking controls in the damn browser, and there's already been one case of pop-ups being used to reconfigure system settings (I heard this one on the news last night).

Isnt that like saying a rusted-out ship hull is leak proof since so many holes have been repaired?

Popup blocking doesn't make it more secure, just more user-friendly.

actually TB is right, lately script kiddies and haxors have found a way to embed code and other scripts into popups that if a unprotected person catches the pop up and it sees a wide open connection, a script, code, executable, "WHATEVER" could be run autonomiously, without the user's knowledge.

Last night on the news, there was a report of a pop-up scam that would reconfigure the Internet connection settings in IE to dial a 1-900 number somewhere in Africa. Though this was also caused by IE security holes, as always (NO web page should be allowed to do ANYTHING to the system configuration).

Considering that Browsers have ALWAYS been notoriously unsafe, claiming yours is "teh safest" is not much of a claim.

It's like saying yours is the safest jump over the grand canyon EVER!
