Office "Spaghetti Syndrome" - Wire Management help

Post by WarAdvocat »

OK so I spent a lot of time & money getting my office re-furnished...and now I have wire/cable management issues... How do you guys fight the dreaded Spaghetti Syndrome?

I did some research and this looks interesting-
http://cableorganizer.com/cable-safe/

But I'm really looking for a DIY option, or something really super-slick if it's a purchased solution.

That cable-safe system is $25 on pctoyland.com.

If you want to make your own, just mount a board to the wall with some pegs stuck in it. You can wrap the cords around the pegs and have the power strips lay across 2 or 3 pegs.

This is what I use, and it handles the majority of my cable issues.(I got it from either Home Depot or Radio Shack) That and Velcro/twist ties. I have a corner desk, and I don't have much room back behind the desk to let cables get outa control. I also use some of these adhesive back clips mounted in strategic places onto the desk itself, near my computer.

Wire ties.

Most cables ship with wire ties on them. I just leave them on there -- untwist when I'm stretching the cable, and then when it's in place, I'll bundle up the extra and twist the wire tie back around it. If I have several cables running the same place, I'll stretch the wire ties across multiple cables to keep them together.

heh.

I'm currently looking into home-made large-scale split loom... I was at home depot and found some 2" flexible nylon ribbed tubing... I dunno.

Out of all the wire management I've used over the years, the current one I am using with that desk refit I did are the most versitile.

I use the VELSTRAP® 1x12's with a screw through the steel grommet they have into the bottom of the work surface. I space them about 24" apart and make a raceway uot of them for the wires

To bundle I also bought a roll 1'(I have tons of it, gimmie a few bucks and I'll send you some)
