Horrible textures on Walls !

Hi Y'all !

Halp !

Since moving I finally have a new PC on line,...

It's been weeks since I blowed up good in my Pyro !

On my new 2.6 Athalon PC with Windows XP, and an LCD flat panel monitor, D3 runs well but the video is all wonky; the ships look normal but the walls are hideous fluorescent abnormal coulours and textures are maddening. I have an ATI Raedon 9250, all drivers updated, using OPen GL, no vsynch,D3 is Ver. 1.4..

Is this distortion of the wall colours and textures due to Win-XP, my flat panel display (cheap one..) or what ?... I'm off to get another monitor to test if it's the LCD screen ..

I hoped to get a reply sooner in this forum rather than post in Tech forum... btw... !

I've had similar problems with a video card change; so maybe it's related to that. Did you update the drivers from the manufacturer's website or windoze update?

Yes.. I've updated all ATI drivers...

Can D3 run on an LCD flat panel display ? I can't borrow a normal CRT monitor just yet.

TFTs shouldn't cause wrong colors, only blurring if your panel is above 16ms specs :) (I run D3 fine on two TFT displays w/ XP as host. Got nVidia cards tho :P). I'd say it's GF/X driver related -- what are you running D3 under ? OpenGL or DirectX ? The former is the prefered mode (faster) but try changing it to see if the problem persists (doing that would point to the monitor..).

I have a Radeon 9800 Pro / Intel D865GBF motherboard / NEC Flat Panel - and had a similar problem. Try going to the D3 launch screen >Setup >Video Tab >Redetect Available Rendering Devices.

If an option to take â??Direct 3D â?? Primary Display Driverâ?

Hi again ..

Thx for all the wisdom,.. ( lol at playing stadium..!) ..I tried all that and then,

...the solution is !

..It's the ATI Raedon 9250... ! I plugged back in my mother of all CRT's running at 120Hz refresh rate, and found the same thing ... mental textures on the walls and HUD items all in stripped lines.

Then I tweaked the ATI settings for Open GL, and after enabling a few options off by default, I'm back ! ..

Does anyone try to play D3 on a TFT or flat panel display ..? What should I expect to have to buy to make it look as good as my 19 inch CRT ..?

And one last thing; someone please remind me of the syntax for the command line option in the Misc tab in setup,?.. Is it ":/" or ..'/' .? .. How do I get the Framecap off, and set nomusic and nointro ..?. I forget the right way of spelling it...

Alsmost back in teh mines !

(Ferno .. see PM !)

If you're playing on a high-quality TFT or flat panel, it'll look just as good as on your CRT. You might have to tweak the gamma correction or various other color settings (just like you would with any other monitor) but that's about it.

If your flat panel is lower quality (slower response time), you might get blurring. In that case, the solution is to get a better flat panel.

17" TFT is equivalent to a 19" CRT.

Dashes. Eg.

Code: Select all

-nointro -nooutragelogo -playermessages -z32bit -deadzone0 0.0 -deadzone1 0.0 -usesmoothing -framecap 0 -pilot Grendel
