Hey everyone,
Well, since I was in XC a couple years back, I stopped working out after that. Anyway, I want to get into better shape before I move to Utah next year. Anyway, I started working out again about 2-3 weeks ago. Basically how my workout scheduel works is that I work out until it hurts or I am too tired one day, the next day I rest in order for my muscle tissue to rebuild itself and the next day I work out again, etc.
Anyway, I am now up to two sets of 20 push ups (no girly bs), 30 arm lifts each arm with a 20 lb weight, 78 stress free sit-ups and after about another set of 92 I get tired and I do a leg lift where I lift both legs at the same time off from the ground and count to about 45 slowly, holding that position to strengthen up my upper abdomine.
However, I am somewhere between 6' 1 1/2" to 6' 2", at 155.5 lbs. I'm also looking into doing a lot of tough bike riding during this year, being that after I move I plan to utilize it to keep living and gas expenses down. It will also save on wear and tear on my car. Where I am moving, bike riding and racing is very competitive and popular so I figure it will be a good move and I love to ride my bike so it would be a perfect sport for me. I figure on riding it probably everywhere in town and only use my car for dates/winter or for driving out of town. My brother who also lives there and his son who is only about 5 years younger than myself are also into bike racing so I figure during the next few years I'll start building myself up so that maybe at some point I can ride with them. I used to be really big in to XC (Cross Country) so I figure it would be a blast, especially with family.
Anyway, my biggest problem seems to be that I have a lot of leg weight and when ever I do my leg lifts, they place a huge ammount of stress on the arch of my back. I fight to hold my back to the floor but it is incredibly hard to do for me. Anyway, is there any less painful way to accomplish building up the upper abdomine muscles?
Also, is there anything else I should add to my workout?
My arms are gaining some shape however, probably lifting big wooden pallets and heavy boxes at work for the past few years helped quicken this a bit.
