These cauterizing flames
Seal off our unwavering past
And though these fading memories evoke the sterilizing fires
Verily, they attest to our mortal steppes
Justifying our exodus as the inferno descends upon our shoulders
And in the midst of Sodom
We are prodded onwards with gilded swords
And humanity is punished for its credulousness
But fear not, nay, indeed, love the ones gone before
For despite the fiery scars etched upon our hearts
They are our pillars
Look back, my pillar of salt.
