on being sane in insane places

an interesting article about the mental health system.
sane people were secretly admitted to psychiatric hospitals, to see how long it would take them to get out (among other things, like just plain writing about the experience).
it seems that psychiatric hospitals are so DEPERSONALISING that they can't even tell sane people from the insane.
