I found this problem playing with newer versions of DLE-XP:
When i made a Descent 2 Level and put DLE-XP to do the light calculation, it all goes perfectly well, but when i go into Descent 2 to test my levels, the Exploding Lights doesn't work.
Even if the lights are destroyed the room is full lightened.
I made some tests and i need to put the lights to act as blinking in ON mode, but is very unstable and unreliable to put every exploding light as blinking.
However, i found the Exploding light works very well in older versions of DLE-XP (1.0.0.43, March 2004)
So, i hope Diedel corrects this in the future versions.
