I know nothing about P4's, and I have a chip+mobo that needs a heatsink. It's a 3.0ghz Socket 478 Prescott, and the mobo is a Asus P4P800E (deluxe) 865PE. What heatsink can I put on that? Watercooling is not an option. I'm looking for what Krom/Stress would put on their chip, not

zalman cpns7000a-cu. I've got one on my rig now, very quiet and quite effective for some minor overclocking.

The ThermalTake Silent Tower is a nice unit and mounts to any mobo that is drilled. This big puppy bolts on.

Thanks to others for model numbers and links. I think the XP-90 should do just fine. It's looks like an engine.Going to be interesting to see just how this hooks on the chip.

Newegg has it, which is perfect, since I've already pumped many thou$and$ through them. On sale too!

I'd second this. Extremely quiet, and very effective. The CNPS7000B-Cu is the latest revision. Same thing really though.

I'm pretty sure that the retail coolers that come with CPU will do a much better job then those.

Ace, nobody is filing a complaint about what you are putting in your system, it's your computer and you can put whatever crap you want into it. What we are complaing about is you giving bad advice to people. You can use a wad of tin foil for your heatsink for all we care, just don't tell anyone else to try it too!

With my purchase of this fan i also bought a p4 3ghz. Don't get me wrong the fan is great but, i overclocked my cpu and need a more powerful fan. During heavy gaming like doom3 on high settings or farcry, the sound will go away because the cpu heats up too much. I recomend a better fan if u plan on overclocking but otherwise, cooler master has done a fine job. Oh, and thanks newegg.

Basicly got it for a temp solution till i finish building my case and peltier watercooling setup. but to my suprise this little cooler allows my p4 3gig to run at 3600mhz stable. 46 deg idle 48 full load. at idle and low fan speed it idles 46-47. very very impressed.

Works great and looks great too!

Overclocked 2.5ghz to 3,0ghz with a little arctic silver in there. Idles at 34C and maxes out at 45C. It gets loud around 100% but once you hit 70% i cant tell a difference from anything lower. A++

I have a 3.2ghz Presscot, arctic silver 5, and have the heatsink maxed out all the time and my temperature is at 65C and 55C idle. I do ALOT of intense gaming on HL2 and Source and I only have 1 case fan and ive only used my heatsink 2 days so far so I guess the arctic silver 5 hasnt fused yet.

Decent price, nice big heatsink, and easy to install. The reason it gets a 3 from me is that it is WAY louder than it states. I have other fans that are supposed to be louder than this, but this one drowns them out. For those of you who don't care about that, it's a great product. But if you're looking for some quick noise reduction solutions, this isn't it. No complaints about newegg though; they are consistently the best of the best.

Just installed this on my 3.0GHz P4 Gigabyte Mobo system. I had been using the standard Intel supplied fan previously and had not been able to do anything processor intensive because it was rocketing beyond 70 Centigrade in less than five minutes of 100% CPU usage.

I have been rendering video with it for a solid hour now and the temp is still hovering between 53 and 54 C. In the fifteen years I've been messing around with computers at home I can't ever remember getting such a major improvement for such little money.

Big thumbs up to Spire Cooling - the product is nicely packaged, looks good, nice and quiet and so much easier to install than the standard Intel. They even include a little syringe with just enough thermal paste. And it really works!!

well...... 1 bad 2 good....................
