How to tell the if an Athlon64 939 processor is 90nm or 130?

Can anyone offer an easy way to tell the difference?

If the system is up and running you can use CPU-Z to tell. Just make sure you have the latest ver. http://www.cpuid.com/

On the cpu tab look for "Technology" if it's 90nm it will say 0.09

I don't know how to tell just by looking, maybe Krom or Stress knows the voodoo of those numbers

Here's the thing, i am buying the cpu as the last component of my new rig and i want to be sure i get a 90nm processor as opposed to the 130. Stress might know...as might krom....waiting on their replies i guess.

Get a Winchester core, week 47 are generally the best overclockers.

krom....from what i can see on the retail boxes....they dont specify which is which. Is there an easy way to tell?

Nope. Not before you buy anyway. If you could get ahold of the serials off the chip you could find out from AMD's site, but odds are you won't have that info till you actually have the chip in your hands.

IIRC all 1 MB L2 cache parts are .130, so avoid those.

Is it as simple as selecting a chip with a certain week in the serial such as 0447xxxxxxxx or whatever?

Not really, AMD is still making .130 parts, but they will discontiune those soon enough.

If you're buying the chip from an online shop, they should tell you what version core it is. I know Newegg does.

Actually i'll b buying it locally at a comp supply shop thats very competetive pricewise....problem is the employees there dont know hte differnece and i couldent tell from reading the chips serial or the box it comes in.
