Evidently some innocuous-sounding programs are blatantly harmful anymore...
Yuk!

Unbelievable. The user, as well as the companies behind the various programs that were disabled should all file suit, in a perfect world*.In addition, you further understand and agree, by installing the Software, that iSearch and/or the Software may, without any further prior notice to you, remove, disable or render inoperative other adware programs resident on your computer, which, in turn, may disable or render inoperative, other software resident on your computer, including software bundled with such adware, or have other adverse impacts on your computer.
* Not really perfect, but you know what I mean.
sweet mercy, that is one interestingly designed piece of weaponry.
wouldn't it be interesting if operating systems themselves were designed like that? where they fight tooth and nail against being damaged, and repair themselves automatically - all behind the scenes. (windows is moving along this path already i guess, good on them).
i imagine a time when software is so alive and inteligent, it's considered AI, you can just drop it into a system and it will automatically make the most of whatever resourses it has.
ie: an operating system that once dropped onto a system will aggressively seek out what resourses it has and set itself up in ALL aspects, including internet. if it actually needs something (like a password) it can ask for it.
kindof like automatic port scanning and cataloging. the computer will try hard to access everything it can, but in this case it will then install all relevant software to take full advantage of the resourses it finds.
that's the kindof AI i want. the one that takes care of all the stupid paperwork behind the scenes - and just gives me my final choices.
