nVidia 6800 Ultra problem w/ DVI

Looks like finally I got a some hardware trouble too. I'm looking for similar experiences and/or insights that may help fixing the problem since Gainward ceased operations in the US and RMA means sending the card either to Taiwan or Germany..
The card I'm talking about is a Gainward PowerPack! Ultra/2600 TV-DVI-DVI Golden Sample () or shorter a 6800U 400/1100. I got that thing last august directly from Gainward US (haha..), mounted a Innovatek Cool-Matic NV40 and was using it on an almost daily basis for games & normal stuff w/o any problems -- until today.
Fired up the box, booted into XP as usual and clicked an icon when suddenly my Samsung 172X TFT monitor went blank and started searching a video signal. "Odd," I thought shutting everything down. "XP toasted the driver." For good measure I checked if the card is seated correctly (it was) and if the power connectors are ok (they where). Turning everything back on the monitor wouldn't show a picture, not even the BIOS screen.. After poking at the system a little bit it turned out that the DVI connectors of the card seemed to have quit delivering a signal. Finally I figured out that I could get a picture on the analog port of the lower DVI connector, but only there.
I did try the monitor on another system w/ a DVI connector (a 5950) -- works. I will try a different monitor for good measure tomorrow (ah, today ) evening but I doubt it'll work (experience..) Temperature of the card did not change, reinstalling the driver didn't change a bit, everything looks fine from w/in XP..
Any ideas besides "It's dead, Jim" ?
