This level is pretty huge, which imho doesn't make it very suitable for multiplayer games. Nice job though.

I played it like ten times on a LAN with 3 people and it worked great! The lower hall with the lava wasn't in use very often though

Very good single player, well done architecture, cool ideas. But for multiplayer imo not suited too well, because it's way too large, doesn't flow well, and generally is pretty narrow. Just my $0.02.

That's why I called it Claustrofobia you know.

Lol! Yeah, sure, but that's kind of counter productive when it comes to multiplayer gaming, isn't it?
Anyway, if you and your friends had a blast in it, it might be better suited for anarchy games than it looks to me.

Yep it is possible, there where only 3 of us you know. Maybe you should try it, if you have six or more I think even you would be statisfied.

Kinda reminds me of the "Panic" level set that Parallax did for D2. Some of those were rather large and complex. What is considered "playable" of a "good level" has really changed over they years. hehe. . I think that comes from playing too many times in minerva. It kinda set the standard for Size. In D3 things are still a little bigger, but then again, the over all scale is larger than D1 or D2.

I should build some code into D2X-W32 that makes it refuse to load minerva, vamped, keg party, neptune ... all these old, played-to-death levels ppl usually play, leaving aside all those cool other levels that are out there (e.g. mine
).

Well, I wouldn't take issue over that...

I don't think that anyone would argue over minerva, but the others would put many in a snit on Kali. The later 3 are still played often, but not all the time.
Try saving a game as "Minerva" in D3Editor some time.

My neck of the woods, Neptune and Vamped are played more often than Minerva. Seriously.
Edit: But I don't hold it against them... they just might not know about the other good levels out there....

I must admit that the level LOOKS quite large, but if you play it its quite different.
Personally I don't very much like levels with very large halls, the whole descent effect is gone. If you want an open fight go play descent freespace. I like obstacles, things that are in your way when you shoot your enemy, small corridors and small to medium rooms (with obstacles). In version 1.0 (never was on the Internet but played it with friends) I didn,t have the forcefields in the large hallway around the upper floor. The thing was that you could circle around until you saw somebody, without having to move through the rest of the upper floor. The forcefields where the sollution.
When I played this level it was mainly the upper floor that was in use, but I really liked the idea from level 7 Descent 1 so I just had to put it in also (with a little upgrades here and there, and not copying from the original (I'm against that sort of low behaviour)). I really think when you play it with 6 or more players you have kills once every 30 secs.
The level structure makes it possible to move very quick to another place with multiple ways, so if you know the level well enough YOU can take the shortcut
By the way, how do you like the textures? Lava under Ice above, Green in between.
See you.
