I always follow seinfeld's approach:

"Gee, I'm really sorry, I don;t have any time right now. But if you give me your home phone number I'll call you later on."

"What's that? You're not allowed to give out your home phone number?"

"I GUESS THAT'S BECAUSE YOU DON'T LIKE STRANGERS CALLING YOU AT HOME. GOODBYE!"

The tele-marketers must have deleted the thread from the archive. :)

I've been getting this phone call lately:

"YOU ARE ABOUT TO RECEIVE A VERY IMPORTANT MESSAGE.

TE RECEIVE UN MESSAJE MUY IMPORTANTE

It is very important that you contact Ken Hughes at the following number:

888-***-****.

THIS IS NOT A PHONE SOLICITATION. THIS IS IMPORTANT."

What da hell?

I kept getting calls on my cell phone like that once in awhile, addressed to someone else. It wouldn't stop for several months, so I actually called the number asking them to stop (because they did not listen to my plea for them to stop calling). It was some operator asking for "security clearance." I told them to stop calling and they did. It was weird.

:? I thought it was a collection agency with a wrong phone number, but I never really found out who it was.

the newest wave of calls come from companies outside the US.... rant all you want.

things to aid your turmoil

-are you listed in the phonebook
-you have credit cards
-student loans
-online resume
-mortgage
-car payments
-car insurance
-electric bill
-cable bill
-cell phone
-magazine subscriptions
-newspaper deliveries
-blah blah blah

just think of all the lists you are on and being traded
