magnets and radar detectors...need your scientific opinion

I have just purchased this mounting system for my motorcycle and am worried about the magnets affecting the operation or otherwise damaging the radar detector.
The detector is the Passport 8500 X50 if that matters.
There is a thin piece of metal with a sticky tape on it that you stick to the bottom of the radar detector, it fits on a base made of plastic with an indent to accomodate the metal sticker. Under the plastic plate are two round magnets....
Does anyone know if it will hurt the detector to use it this way?

I wonder if the manufacturer's customer service department might shed some light? Or perhaps the manufacturer of the mount?
badass, BTW. Let's see the whole bike.

Magnets should not affect the radar detector. Nor should metal nearby. As long as the detector itself has a clear forwards FOV (some detect rearwards too) then it'll work fine.

If you're still worried about the magnets, get some industrial double-side glued velcro. Thats what I use to hold the base station for my wireless KB and mouse to my desk, and its stayed there for about a year and a half now. I do have to tell you that its some pretty strong stuff. Stronger than the glue sometimes.
Now lets see the whole bike!

Velcro kinda wears out after a while to the point where you dont trust it with a $400 piece of equipment. Expecially if you're taking it on and off frequently.
I like the magnet idea better if it'll fly.

Hey, if it starts to wear out you could always put more on. The stuff I use comes in a box with a six feet roll. If its a clean, dry surface, its strong enough to hold a 20" TV in place. Hell, if you're still worried, make straps out of the stuff and wrap around the unit. That might be the best way to go.

When all else fails use duct tape.

I'd be leary of magnets near any kind of electronic device - whether it is dangerous to the device or not depends on how strong it is.

Here you go, sorry it took me a while, been busy.
I've been using it with just the magnet base, so far it seems to be fine....
The iPod and cell phone go in the locked fairing pocket on the left, speakers and microphone installed in my helmet, if the phone rings the music automatically mutes to 50% volume and phone auto answers on second ring...I talk
blah blah blah...caller hangs up..phone automatically hangs up at loss of signal...music automatically resumes volume!
If the GPS or Radar Detector sends an audio signal the music doesn't mute but the iPod remote is on the left side control area. Going to ad CB radio and/or bike to bike two way radio soon.
Very cool so far!

As one can see a .45 bore is big enough to conceal a lot of things.
Nice scoot. Why that model Honda over a full blown Goldwing?

It's quicker and faster and lighter and handles better...
Although in the Goldwings defense my ST1300 barely beats the Goldwing in those catagories. Oh yea, the ST1300 has an electric windshield too! you can keep it down like it appears in my pics but in the event of hard rain just push a button and up she goes creating an erie silent dry cacoon of calm air around the rider.
I figure I'll get a Goldwing soon but then I'll need a full blown sportbike to get my thrills so that will be an expensive day.
Right now the ST1300 does double duty and it's amazing how well it does it too. Don't test ride one until you're ready to want one real bad!

Yeah, its a beauty alright.
Now all you gotta do is get a little minature robot to alert you to the possibility of any danger! The flailing arms might get in the way though.
