Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Man this blows. But I guess it's bound to happen. I remember alpha/beta testing Starfleet Command and Deforest Kelly passed away.

Tis a sad day indeed.

He is survived by his wife and kids, the youngest is 4 years old. Looks like he knew how to still have fun to the end!

I think after the original crew have all gone, the only other trekkie that people will get sad over will be Patrick Stewart.

Beam me up Scottie.

Rest in peace to the best engineer Starfleet ever saw. The article on StarTrek.com put it best: "Here's to ya, lad."

RIP.

I heard it on the news earlier today, and they listed the people he left behind. My jaw nearly dropped when I heard he had a kid as late as 80. How could someone young enough to be his daughter fall in love with such a guy?

Yeah. He took several bullets on D-Day, including one that sliced off one of his fingers. The funny thing is, his hand was never shown on the show or in the movies; I didn't even know about it until I read an article a few months ago.

Yeah, I've got an old issue of Star Trek: Communicator with an article that he (James Doohan) wrote going into great detail about what he went through on that day. I'll see if I can dig it up and post a scan for you guys.

An even better one:

"I know this ship like the back of my hand!"
*smacks into bulkhead, setting off the intruder alert alarm*

:D

"Aye, Captain. And maybe just a wee bit more."

Thanks for the memories, Jimmie Doohan!
