Read the whole article. MS finally implemented a tool that will allow to run your computer in a slimmed down "game mode" where it turns off unnecessary crap for you rather than having you do it the old fashioned way like we did for years.

Sounds interesting. The automatic mode will never be a match for tweaking it yourself tho.

Heh, MS is trying to combine the best of both worlds with that one. It's optimizing the system based on the components you have, and now there's a built-in system call to try to convince you to buy a better video card! Everybody wins! :P

Ticord, think of it this way:

Would you really buy a car with most of the interior gone, just so your 0-60 times will be 0.5 seconds faster? NO - because you couldn't stand the day-to-day hassles of a car which featured nothing except a drivers seat.

Would you like a car which automatically removed the interior every time you want to drag race? YES, you would.

In an extremely rare case Mobius makes sense here.

well its in this first build but isnt working yet, this build runs very slowly for me (mouse lag) but doesnt seem to be due to cpu or mem load theres a lot more services available to be shutdown, mostly network offerings, searches, vpn and similar stuff. graphically its more detailed. higher window res, fully transparent icons but its been a bit overkill on the explorer window.

Just out of curiosity, how much ram does it use? I was rather surpised at all the services they added to XP.
