I'm glad I don't work for Kroger anymore. Sometimes I had to work at the fuel center and anytime I get a customer angry and raving about the increase in gas price, I just say "Nothing I can do about this. If you don't like it, go somewhere else." Of course, I say this behind bullet-proof unbreakable glass windows :P

Not to mention are the ones that think that more noise at the intersection = bigger pe.nis, and are the same ones that feel the urge to slam on the gas pedal the second the light turns green, and slam on the brakes when they hit a red light.

I just smile and keep on going, knowing for sure that I'll pass alot more gas stations than they will. :)

It makes me laugh when the people who pay the smallest price for gas, of any country in the world start complaining about how expensive it is! It's friking hilarious.

You pay 89 cents a litre in NZD, while I pay $1.51 a litre. So, I'll be more sympathetic when your gas reaches $3.00 USD a gallon. :P By that time I'll be paying $2.50 a litre, and about $150 for a tank of gas.

Well, because we're better than you are, that's why! Why the hell should we have to pay as much as frickin' New Zealanders? For crying out loud we invented the V8 and everything else that's cool, we deserve low fuel prices! ;)

New Zealand fairly heavily taxes petrol. That's the main reason.

...but things like the V8 actually aren't helping fuel prices. They just use far too much...

V8's can be efficient as long as you get the friggin' foot off of the gas pedal every once in a while when you dont need to. Getting 25 MPG on a Northstar is not hard at all.

Ask your nearest gas station how much tax per gallon you're paying.

heh how much you wanna bet these people are the same ones driving Surburbans, Tahoes, and H2's...
Did anyone else notice that when gas started making it's initial climb in 2002-2003, car companies started spamming the hell out of suv commercials? Coincidence? har har.

Probably because the oil companies work closely with the car companies. Ever wonder why gasoline cars look stylish while hybrid cars look ugly as hell?

My Father was always fond of pointing out how much easier it was to sell a tractor with a new coat of paint....

The thing you need to sell the most... that's what you spruce up the most. Economics 101.

Yes, well we Americans are a pampered lot, ain't we? After all, we do have further to drive than the bloody Europeans.

Hybrid cars run on gasoline as well - they just don't use as much of it.

In as little as two years, that could be a very significant factor...

I find it funny how many people in the Chicago land area are driving V8 SUV as every vehicles. Since when does the average American need that much power to just go to work, shopping, or drop their kid(s) off at some special event. Then they turn around and start bitching because they pay around 60 or 80 bucks to fill the gas tank every week.

"car companies started spamming the hell out of suv commercials"

"how many people in the Chicago land area are driving V8 SUV as every[day] vehicles"

Now you see how you can pick the lemmings out of the crowd? (there are many other ways as well)

just to post a different point of view here, as i manage a gas station/repair shop:

load of gas containing 12,000 gallons: $20,000
Tax per gallon: roughly $0.35
Cost per gallon: $2.513669
Price the consumer pays on self-serve: $2.639
Price the consumer pays on full-serve: $3.139

the price per gallon goes up or down depending on the wonderful jerk-offs on wallstreet throwing their little sheets of paper everywhere debating the price of ONE barrel of oil......

35 cents tax is low, when I saw it on the pumps here (before they took them off) it was 46 cents.

In Massachusetts, the tax on gasoline is over $1.00 per gallon.

Well you have to remember, that they need all that space for grocery shopping (probably from all the fatty and sugar filled foods that they buy at a 10-pack discount at Costco!) and the kids. By god man, think of the kids! They NEED the room to putz around along with that dvd player to keep them occupied. Who needs a playground when you got all that space? And besides, im an American damnit! I deserve the best because its me me me!

How you spot a lemming? You dont have to tell by what car they drive, its their "me me me" psychology. "I dont have a legitimate need for an SUV but I want one anyway because I DESERVE the best."
