Is it just paper towels and Windex? Or should I use something else less abrasive?

To clean my CRTs I use a damp piece of an old plain white t-shirt.

The same felt that opticians use to clean glasses can be bought at Staples, OfficeMax, etc. Don't use Windex as it leaves streaks (found that out the hard way...). Don't use CRT cleaner because it's anti-static.

with your tongue of course .. will .. that's what my cat tells me at any rate.
If you use Iso Alcohol, use a high grade and not something cheap.
Matrix has a good method too.
btw, do LCD monitors use the same anti-glare choatings as CRT's?

don't use paper, that could micro-scratch the surface.

Damp t-shirt will remain the best solution for a long time.

IPA and a wire brush. Gets it SUPER-A1 clean.

A tad of dish soap on a paper towel works wonders for me. Gets it cleaner than any wipe I've ever seen, let alone Windex. Although using a t-shirt is probably a better idea I suppose.
