Inexpensive laser printer?

Suggestions on inexpensive laser printer?

Costco has Brother, OKI, HP. Don't know anything about the first two.

Sniff around deal sites (like slickdeals.net and fatwallet.com), you can sometimes catch good deals on em.

samsung ml-1710 cost about £49 in the uk. user refillable toner print quality is acceptable and its been going strong now for about a year despite the noobish peeps in the office here.

DO NOT GET A BROTHER PRINTER. You will regret it when you have to return the machine two months later. If it magically doesn't break within those two months, you'll regret it when you realize that Brother toner is the most expensive per mL. Plus, you have to replace the drum unit every 4 times you replace the toner.

Lexmark machines are just a small step up from the Brother machines. I can't vouch for the lower end OKI machines, but the regional representative from OKI was incredibly honest about the features and shortcomings of their higher-end machines.

Little-known fact: Canon makes all the internals of every HP laser machine. Canon or HP is definitely your best bet, and the toner and drum are one unit. It will cost about $30 more than a comparable Brother machine, but believe me, it's well worth it.

I'm touching wood then. I've got a Brother HL-5030 here which has served me well for the past year or so. No negative comment whatsoever, even the drivers are not cluttered with junk features or buggy. It prints my envelopes happily.

I'm aware the toner is expensive, but the company pays, so if that is the only downside I'll encounter I'm a happy customer.

From what I gather, the HL-5030's undersold, as they've been on sale for the past month (and I believe the sale ends in 2 weeks). We had 8 or 9 of them in overstock 2 weeks ago.

I moved last week and both Staples I've been in down here had a bunch of them too...

gots no complains with my xerox.

then again, it was free.
