Here's something new.

Mount & Blade is an incredibly fun game, despite being a beta. It's not an online game (at least not yet) but it's still incredibly fun. The game's in the beta phase, but the developers (a Turkish husband/wife team that are incredibly skilled) are offering it at a reduced price, increasing until the final game, with a price tag of $25, is released.

The developers are very active within the community, and many of the good ideas from fans have already been incorporated into the game. A demo, allowing you to reach level 6, is already available for free. Unlocking further levels costs a one-time fee of $12. The fee also entitles you to receive the full version of the updated versions of the game in the future.

It's very, very rare that you see a game's beta have a mod community, but the modders are already lining up with their ideas. The game supports a high level of moddability, though it seems that you can't change models as of yet--the developers are planning on releasing modding tools that will hopefully allow this sometime in the near future.

The graphics are pretty derned good, easily outstripping D3--there's still quite a few rough spots, but in general the game stays very stable, and is extremely detailed considering the engine's being coded by one man.

Check it out! What do you think?

I think:
I can't be bothered to download and play another RPG for a while.
And this isn't a MMORPG.

I never said it was. I said it was for MMORPG players.

The download's 37.4 MB, IIRC.

agreed. it looks like all you do is ride around on a horse, no magic? no weather? little difference in terrain? all the screenshots look the same
