My daughter just picked up a older sony lap top that has win xp pro. Unfortunately a password is required to log on and she can't locate the person as he/she has moved with no known address (ya ya I know it sounds odd). Anyways I was just going to erase the O.S. and put my win xp back on. Problem is I can't even get the command prompt to come up without knowing the missing persons password. So how do I erase the rascal?

Boot off your XP disk, use it to format the drive and reinstall.

Couldn't you just put in the XP install CD and then just overwrite it?
