The only thing that stuff is good for is stripping wax off of tile floors and disinfecting wounds. As a general rule of thumb, I try to stay away from liquor that's available in a half pint.
Try this and you'll never drink mezcal again:
<--tequila snob.
this would be a reasonable substitute for Patron:

I'm way past the "contest" stage, but I'd be happy to sip my way to the bottom of a bottle with ya. You bring the señoritas, I'll bring the margaritas.

I was picturing him more along the lines of having a real little buddy around or something, like this:

Your drinking sensei must enjoy drinking battery acid.

If they would stop producing that kind of stuff in glass bottles I'm sure the price would drop nearly
five dollars!!!

If you are making margaritas does it really matter what brand you use?

I think it makes a difference. However, I dont use the top shelf when I make margaritas. On the flipside, I'd never make a margarita with tequila that I wouldn't drink straight. Midgrade tequila is fine for margs tho.

There was a period in my life where all I needed was a salt shaker, a lemon and a bottle of tequila. No glasses required.

I'm with ya woodchip. I would toss the salt over my shoulder, take a slug of tequila, and whip the lime at whoever was nearby.

Never could drink tequila unless it was in a margarita. I'll stick to Vodka, tequila is way too harsh.

If you think that, you've never had good tequila. Good tequila is smooth as silk.

Maybe so. Ever since my bachelor party where I had 1 or 2...dozen too many tequila shots, just the smell of it turns my stomach. That was a 1.5 day drunk and 2 day hangover.

Oh gawd, I do not miss that sh1t. I can imagine why you don't want to ever drink it again. Memories of those 2-3 day hangovers keep me from going back there.
