Laptop hard drive recommendations?

Post by Jeff250 »

A friend of mine gave me a broken laptop to keep if I can fix it, and it appears as if the hard drive has crapped out. This is a new domain for me, but as far as laptop hard drives are concerned, I was thinking getting this:

Although out of stock below, there are more specs here:

Thoughts? Other recommendations? Will this eat away at my battery life?

Stay away from those Travel Star drives. They are mostly in Dells but peeps eye them because they are cheap. We change them left and right at work and about %20 of the new replacement drives are bad right out of the box.

I ended up ordering the Hitachi from www.mwave.com . It seems as if Hitachi has a (or near) monopoly on 7200RPM mobile drives.

I have had a good run with the 2.5" Samsung Spinpoint drives.
