Imagoin to a LAN party!! WOOT WOOT!!
It is my first one too. It's just an hour out of town and they are playing UT2004. I'm going to see if I can get a few into Descent 3.
Anyone have any advice for my first time playing without 500-900 ping?
I'm expecting to get owned but I don't mind it. It is a groundpounder after all.

You play UT2004 with that high of a ping? Any way Instgib is a good way to get your dodging and aim skills up. Also can make you tired faster.

LOL, I don't play UT2004 on-line. I bought it mostly for a project I'm working on and to learn Maya PLE.

For one thing, I assume you have actually played UT2k4, aside from using it for your project?
LAN parties are just like botmatches in that the ping is uberlow (unless the network admins are retards), except 100x more fun. So if you want practice in that regard just load up a single player game with bots.

Don't forget the dodge-jump, the wall jump-dodge, the strafe-double-jump etc.
One of the reasons I like UT is because it has a movement system as involved as chording, if not more so in some instances. If you can't do it, LEARN.

Why did we stop playing UT? What an awesome game.

UT caught my attn back when it first came out, and I've bought all 3 so far and plan on buying UT 2007 also. It has (for me) beaten Quake series hands down.

Yep, I was practicing those last night. Yes, I have played UT2004. Just not a whole lot. Should be fun though.
BTW, I found a Descenter here

learning movement is nice, but hitscan aim is more important. 50+% hit effciency with shock rifle and the lighting gun is key.
retool your weapon selection to have easy access to sheildgun, flak, shock, lighting gun, and minigun.
time the powerup respawns. every 60 seconds.

Just an update:
Well, I couldn't get UT2004 to join and it would freeze up on me after I installed the patch. I've tried it twice now so we ended up playing some Counter Strike Source and I played in a tournament. I didn't do too bad. Especially when I used dual pistols and a shotgun. Dual pistols seemed to be my best weapons but I liked the machine gun, the shotgun and other pistols. It was a blast.
Classic Moment:
Two players hid behind a crate and I hid behind a wall under an archway. I sidestepped back and forth firing my machine gun every time an enemy popped around a corner in order to hold ground and protect my commrads. Then some guy who sits in front of me popped around the corner and walked into the two players and me firing from another angle so he had 3 machine guns right in his face
I love CSS. I never knew it was this much fun.
