savegame problems / video strangeness

I discovered d2x-xl very recently (last week) and I am glad it is there - big thx to the coders.
A thing that is probelmatic (Version 1.5.31/.33) when I play Descent 2: I often cannot load a savegame. I have descent.hog and descent.pig copied into the D2 directory, and they are both selected inside d2x-xl, I started playing D2 through again, and it happened a few times that I save a game and it does not load. One time it complained about being unable to load a typical-descent1-ressource when I tried to load a descent2 savegame, on another occations "prepare to descent" is displayed, but nothing happens, and the third version is that it jumps back to the menu immediately.
It didn't happen with descent1 savegames yet, but maybe it will soon.
Apart from that I had only one program crash yet (only d2x-xl crashed, not the system) - reason yet unknown.
I'll check the savegamebug on, maybe it is due to the 2 CPUs, Athlon X2, and fix it to one CPU.
A different thing I noticed: the descent2 intro movie gets stretched by a few pixels in d2x-xl, very noticable at the "interplay presents" part. d2x-sdl.exe does that better, no stretching.
Why is "-nomovies" in the default d2x.ini?
Can you add -subtitles (or a hint for it) to the default d2x.ini?
