Well since the second thread was closed for something other than 'necroposts', here's a new thread where we can discuss this topic in peace.
Please continue with the earlier discussion

Man, all these cheap reasons for closing threads are lame.
On topic, i have demo's of lots of pilots if anyone wishes to see them.

Someone in one of the other threads mentioned getting some demos hosted. PD has a D3 demos section that hasn't been updated in something like a millennium, so I'd be more than happy to take any submissions that people might want to make.

speaking of demo's, does anyone know where I can find or remember the demo of someone getting through D2's level 2 in under 2 minutes?
It was posted here some years ago.

I'd like to go through my demos and pick out the best ones this weekend, so if anyone is willing to let me upload it to their ftp please PM me and we can get these things circulating.
Also some of you have PMed me to get my AIM name, let's get trading, I enjoy watching demos of how other people fight / fly. It's really amazing how differently some people can move through a level.

Where the heck are all the demos?! I was trying to show a friend the unbridled and gleeful chaos of Descent dogfighting at work today and couldn't find a single example!

Theres nothing to resolve. Its very do-able.
I made it thru lvl 2 as described in under 1:30 sec,
on insane. Much time was taken on lvl one to prepare for the "CannonBall" run on map 2. Hench why i have 200 shields and some goodies at start of the demo.
Heres a screen.
Now the screen shot was made on a different run than the demo was. reason being that i didnt have time to take a screen befor the exit in the demo cause of some bots
Not sure how to host a demo file, so if you want it come find me in Rangers Server on Kali.

Nicely done Kida.
I knew it was do-able, I saw the demo years ago. Pretty cool. He grabbed the inviso and simply bypassed a lot of bots. It was about how fast the player could get through the level, not necessarily what they could achieve on the way.
Thanks. and yeah. this is a VERY old thread. I didn't realize it was nearly 2 years since I posted that question. I remember posting it very clearly. o_0 dang I'm getting old.

Simple. Run fraps in the background, go into descent and hit F9 to start recording a movie. Then play the demo. Once you're done playing the demo, hit F9 again. Edit the video accordingly (to remove the game menus) and compress using your video codec of choice. Then simply upload said video to google video, youtube, whatever.

Which is why I stickied the thread in the first place. Thread necromancy is no longer an issue for this thread.

Yes. I want to see the vids of you playing zero and beating him darktalyn.

Ask and you shall receive
To Zero's credit, he crushed me multiple times when I first jumped back in the mines. But, I blame the 3 years of rust for that
Once I warmed up it got a bit more competitive. He's good and was a fun 1on1 matchup
I have quite a few other demos, with other players, I'll have to go through them to find what's good.

I'll have to watch these when I get the chance. Besides the occasional 1v1 with Behemoth (when his machine isn't crashing), I don't often get to play many top-tier players outside the \"usual crowd\" I know. So I could definitely stand to learn some stuff, even if it's from an old-school demo.

I know I have a few of our games from last year. I'll try to post some up soon. I normally save the close ones, not just the ones I win. Don't remember who wins those particular matches though
I also have a ridiculously long 1on1 in Faded Rose vs Tyrant from wayyy back in the day. If I remember correctly I lost this game 49-50. But, if you have the patience to actually watch through the damn thing, you will see me hit him with something like 8 straight trifusion shots in the last fight that all do no damage.
I'll have to watch it again, maybe it was my imagination

Halfway thru the first one. Not bad, you got skill. Strange you went as king moth.. i think i saw that alias in game once and thought it was behemoth. Only weird thing so far is that zero didnt switch to vauss when you were at zero health. he would have seen that little shield flicker. i swear he plays better against me

Yea you definitely did well with the mind games. He was running after you, not being patient, and not switching. He wasn't playing smart; he was playing desperate. He'd see a small oppurtunity and go for it too hard. Kudos. I've played with Z more than any other player, and that guy in there talked like him but didn't walk like him. It takes a lot of player to do that.
Come play me sometime so we can have more demos for the block! and so i can learn
cuz you'll kick my ass

Probably if you had paid attention to the link, you'd notice those are
descent 3 demos.

Here's some D1 demos from '05. It was between Morfod and I in Athena NH.

I'd be interested! I'm looking for old, competitive D1 multiplayer demos (1on1 or ffa).
I'm also Really looking for a collection of stupid Kiln trick demos... if they're to be had anymore! Last I checked the Whoopass Cannery was down... and I wanted to go back through those.
What I would really love would be if people would make the demos into actual videos, so they could be watched outside of the game- but you can't have everything, right?
Thanks,
Steve
