Descent 3 questions

At me a following question.
In Descent 3 at setting of the resolution 1600x1200, automap and menu remain in the standard resolution. At switching on automap installation of color with 32bit on 16bit is dumped. It in general is somehow treated? What ideas are? What opportunity to start automap in the resolution above than 640x480 can eat??? Whether Probably to start Descent 3 in a window?

P.S. Sorry my bad language...

It's the way Descent 3 was coded, automap is always in 640x480 along with the menu screen, it's normal in older games and can not be changed in Descent 3.

32 bit color support in OpenGL is broken, even if you check the box and set it to 32 bit the game remains in 16 bit mode, there is no fix for this.

Descent 3 can not be run in a window.

Hmmm... May be someone can rewrite Descent 3 for support?

Unlikely, Descent 3 is not an open source project. Interplay productions currently owns the Descent 3 source code and there have been no moves or hints at releasing it at all. And development of the source code/game has been stopped for several years now.

Someone try contact with interplay? May be it support for futures patches? May be this as wish list?

You are welcome to try, the more people that ask the better the odds they will release the code.

Interplay does not own the source code (i.e. the copyright thereto) to Descent 3, Outrage Entertainment does. Outrage Entertainment was folded into THQ a while back, so it would be an uphill battle in a snowstorm to get them to release the source code. Interplay owns the trademark on the Descent name, which means all sequels must be approved by them -- and due to the contract between Interplay and Parallax Software, the ancestor company of Outrage and Volition, Inc., Parallax has the exclusive right to develop another Descent sequel.

So, no dice, unfortunately. :(
