iPod software?

I did a search trying to find information about some iPod software someone on here was saying was a \"must-have\". I think it was DCrazy, but I couldn't find the thread.
I'm looking for any must-have tools for the iPod (preferable free, open source).

Hrmm... I dimly recall saying something like that but damned if I can find it now. Well, I used to use gtkpod when I still ran FreeBSD (basically an OSS iTunes replacement).

Thanks man. I'm pretty sure it was Windows software that allowed users to rip and hack into the iPod, stuff like that. I'll keep probing Google and see what happens. Thanks again!

Ohh... copypod ($25 I think) and podutil (10 GBP, so ~$17) both allow you to rip the songs off the iPod. So does gtkpod, but if you don't want a wholesale replacement for iTunes then copypod/podutil might be the way to go (resourceful ones can find activation codes for both programs in certain places).
