Velocity and speed are two different things.

My velocity through life currently equates out to next to nothing. Ive been all over the country, and I drive fast and all, but I live two blocks from the hospital where I was born :P

Yeah, it's mine.

And, no, not 1978. It was designed in 1971 by Wolfgang Mobius - believe it or not. That makes it 35 years old. My \"M0b1u5\" plate arrives nest week. :)

It's a 1982 model, British import in '95. Garaged its entire life, it's in excellent shape for a 24 year old car.

Up until the Bentley GT coupe came out, which broke the rule, it has always been true of the 928, that \"nothing as fast is as luxurious, and nothing as luxurious is as fast.\" I only had $9000 on hand, and not the $390,000 for the Bentley W12.

In 1982, the car cost almost that in 2006 dollars too!

The Darwin Fish was compulsory.

Oh, and it drives beautifully too. At any speed. I've seen 130 mph in it, and it was still pulling like crazy, but the road wasn't ideal for any speed higher than that, so a proper speed run will have to wait for my next trip down south.

I've wanted one of these for about 10 years - so it is very nice to finally be able to relax in the leather missile, and enjoy the german engineering. :D

Ick.. I know the car is old, but it would have been so much nicer with a manual gearbox.

Otherwise, not bad at all.. I know you've been keeping an eye out for one for some time now.

And, Bentley W12.. You have good taste :D

I doubt the germans put those ugly wheels on the thing.

She's rear engined, not mid engined, right?

Yuck @ Porsches.

Cramped, uncomfortable, can feel every bump on the road. Engine sounds cheap. You can have it.

Hell, if you don't want it, I'll take it. I'm not positive, but I think it'll give a better ride than my Escort. :P

Kidding aside, very nice ride Mobi. :)

Tsk! Tsk! Tsk! You dinged up your car Mobi! You should know better than that! ;)

(For those that are curious: look under the left headlight, and under the gas door and directly behind the right-rear tire)

Probably, but pretty much any other car out there thats worth its weight is more of a worthwhile ride than that Porsche. AT least the old ones. The newer ones are much better like the Boxter. I really dont get the hooplah for the older ones except for the name. I rode in a few older ones and they were not worth the price IMO.

But hey, if you enjoy it, have fun with it. At least you didnt buy a cheap asian import and riced the hell out of it. :P

That's another way of saying the old Porsches took some good skill to drive properly, which is true. For 'connoiseurs', that's half the fun and half the challenge. I'll take an old generation Porsche any time.

Well congrats Mobi.

That car was known here in the states, as the poor man's porsche
