Logitech Extreme 3d Pro with calibration issue

Post by Kilarin »

I've got a Logitech Extreme 3D pro joystick. It's the best configuration I've found since I gave my old Sidewinder to my son to use on his computer (which HAS a serial game port)

Problem is, I'm getting a random miscalibration in the rudder twist. Sometimes, you start the computer and the rudder shows as twisted to the right. Disconnecting and reconnecting the joystick doesn't fix it. turning the computer off and on will very rarely fix it. And then sometimes, after a frustrating evening of trying to get it to work and giving up, the next morning I boot up the pc and the stick is calibrated perfectly.

A google search found lots of people complaining about logitech rudder calibration problems, but I haven't seen any solutions. I do hope this doesn't mean I have to throw away my joystick. it's not that old!!!

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Buy a new Joystick.
Put the old one in the new box.
Return to store.

Repeat as necessary.

Exchange the stick. It's caused by the rudder axis potentiometer failing (crappy pots). I gave up on the Freedom 2.4 & E3D sticks after I went through 8 w/in a year.

They only last me 2 weeks or so, then they start to yaw sharply to the right.

That's due to my super twist action :)

Thats why when I bought mine a little over a month ago, I bought the 2 year protection plan. For an extra five dollars, it would've have been an error of biblical proportions to NOT buy it. Knock on wood, its been running great since day one.
