Saturday, February 11, 2006:
Had been running my pc for hours as usual... Rebooted.
BAMM... The PC refused to reboot. ARRRRRRRRRRH!
So I arranged to use a temporary pc until I can afford to get a new pc.
Seems to be my systemboard or the processor... but I don't have time to mess with it.
The Hard Drive data thankfully is still there.
Ah the joys of Hardware.
DOH!
So for now, At least I can do the things I need to do... albeit, not quite the same as before.

Try a can of compressed air before you try anything else.

Dust it, clean the connectors on everything, check to see if the power supply is good. Try a different one.

Yeah, I agree. Basically, take it apart clewaning as you go, then put it back together, and make sure you don't have anything left over afterward...

Made sure to unplug the power cord.
- Did the Compressed Air and blew all the dust out of the computer.
- Pulled all interface cards.
- Cleaned the Memory and Interface Card edge connectors.
- Reinstalled the Memory and Video Card only.
Same Result... No POST errors, No Video.
Time to replace the PC soon anyway.
Wheeeee!

k, try this.
Reset the CMOS, then, if it still show no signs of life, try another stick of memory. often a bad stick will lead to a no post condition.

Pull the video card and see if it'll give you a POST error.

Pulled ALL the interface cards but left the memory in place. Didn't work!
Tried Different combinations of cards after that to no avail.
No Power on Self Test sounds! (POST)
No Bios ROM or Video ROM messages... at this point the pc refuses to boot at all.
Will attempt to reset the CMOS another day... gotta find the !@#$%^&* manual for the systemboard. (1 through 8 on keyboard in shifted state... Not a curse word!)

Since it failed upon a reboot, my bets are on reseting the CMOS will fix it, or maybe you aquired a bios virus which corrupted it(not as likely)
More often then not, its the jumper next to the battery, just make sure you unplug the PC from the wall when doing so.

Hmm, try pulling the power cable from the motherboard (don't forget to press the release clip on the back side of the cable) and check for any obvious scorching or corrosion on both the pins in the cable and on the motherboard.

No scorch marks on the power supply or system board.
My bet is it may be the CMOS needs to be reset... Will look into it later.

If you can't find the manual or the clear cmos jumper, just take the battery out for a few hours.

Took out the CMOS Battery for just over 2 days... Reconnected it.
Still the same problem.
Oh well... Time to use the parts as needed elsewhere.
Hard Drive is good... Can get my data from it when it is needed. WHEW!
1 DVD ROM Drive, 1 DVD RW Drive, etc.
It's a hassle for sure but at least I have a loaner pc from a friend until I can afford to get a new pc.
Life goes on... I'm going to consider the PC as permanently \"retired\". DOH!
