If Dreams Have Bore the Brunt of Saintly Prayers

Haven't posted anything in a while. Wrote something the other night I thought was actually decent, so here it is.

Code: Select all

If dreams have bore the brunt of saintly prayers
And thoughts of whispered vows of passion kept
If jealous twilight guard our inner lairs
Enchain this pressing time to planets dreamt
Disdain the pressing sun with pressing lids
Seal these markéd tombs with passions bestowed
And buried with the shadow’s loving bid
To ferry us the daylight’s love unknown
If fire’s face burns searing passion cold
And in it’s envy it condemns the rain
Then let the muses sing if they be bold
And in the twilight sleep may be our vein
Without the nightfall may I never wake
Upon the starry heaven’s morning break

Beowulf, you know how good this is? You're a beast.

I can't imagine that any sort of sonnet would be easy to write, to say nothing of one this good. Very nice work. :)
